Program Overview
Leading Diverse Teams in a Shifting Political Climate, Lynn will share her experience leading global teams within the social sector (K-12 Education, Nonprofits, Population Health) while navigating political tensions around DEI.
Creating Inclusive Communities Amidst Political Tension, Jennifer will share her experience in building compassionate and inclusive communities despite the ongoing political debate around DEI. The program will invite participant conversation about challenges and strategies in today's workplace environment as it relates to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging.
Outcomes:
Strategies for fostering collaboration and maintaining focus on DEI goals, even when political climates challenge their implementation.
Strategies for addressing pushback or political challenges within teams, and how to maintain momentum on DEI work in the face of external political opposition.
Examples of how to navigate difficult conversations with staff, volunteers, and participants, creating environments that are welcoming to all, regardless of differing political preferences among participants.
Lynn Fick-Cooper
Lynn serves as Chief Equity & Societal Impact Officer, where she leads diverse teams responsible for the design and delivery of leadership solutions for social sector organizations focused on K-12 and Higher Education, Nonprofits, and Population Health; social sector research and evaluation; fundraising; and
program operations. Lynn also has executive level responsibility for CCL’s global Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Practice where a diverse team of leaders from across the organization works to ensure CCL develops and delivers effective
leadership solutions to help CCL and clients create equitable, diverse, and inclusive organizational cultures.
Jennifer Ruppe
Jennifer Ruppe is the President & CEO of North Carolina for Community and Justice where she works to build more respectful and inclusive communities free of bias, bigotry, and racism. Prior to her role at NCCJ she was the ED of Guilford Green Foundation & LGBTQ Center where she worked to advance equity and inclusion for the LGBTQ community. She was named the 2019 Person of the Year by the North Carolina Human Rights Campaign.
