Coaching the Visually Impaired or Blind: Tour of Industries for the Blind

  • Industries for the Blind 920 West Gate City Boulevard Greensboro, NC, 27403 United States (map)

A tour of The Industries of the Blind and Presentation on Coaching the Visually Impaired or Blind

Blind people often feel ignored, especially regarding their own professional growth and development.  They want to be ‘seen’ as individuals who have the capacity for professional growth and who can contribute to society and be successful.  The Industries for the Blind seeks to eliminate all barriers for people who are blind or visually impaired.

How can a coach help someone who is blind achieve success?

  • Coaches can help empower the visually impaired coachee; and encourage a blind coachee in the belief that they can do anything they choose to: run a business, lead a company, purchase a house, get a PhD

  • Coaches can help by building confidence levels and providing tools that can be employed in becoming an effective leader

  • Create action plans to help the coachee to get outside of comfort zone, be more visible; how to level the playing field (in their mind and in reality)

  • Help them identify tools to help them advocate for themselves.

  • Help them get outside their comfort zone (fear of failure and being looked down upon)

  • How to not fear failure, or speak up, have the courage to pursue and gain knowledge to be successful

  • How to dress, presentation skills, speak

During this presentation you will be provided with valuable information regarding working with the visually impaired and blind.  We will receive a tour of the Industries of the Blind learn more about this population and how to be an effective coach with them.
